COVID-19 Pandemic response activities
The epidemic of unknown acute respiratory tract infection broke out first in Wuhan, China. Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread throughout China and is now in almost all countries. On 30 January 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared the COVID-19 epidemic as a public health emergency of international concern. A fatal second wave of coronavirus infections upset India, by leaving millions of people infected and adding stress on the country’s already overstrained health care facilities. The following are the COVID -19 Pandemic Response activities of our organisation
- Community Intervention Programme (CIP) on COVID-19 jointly with Greater Chennai Corporation in urban slums of 5 different Zones in Chennai, covering a population of 45,000.
- Supply of Thermal scanners, Masks, Hand sanitizer & Liquid soap for hand wash to Schools in Chennai, Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Dharmapuri & Krishnagiri Districts with UNICEF support (2021)
- Distribution of Relief Kit to the 200 daily labourers of Koyampedu & Mogappair with the support of Muthoot Group (2021)
- Vizhitheyzhuvom – (Phase II) Psycho socio support and sensitising the community on COVID in 11 Habitations of Ennore covering 7000 families supported by Coromandel International Limited (Murugappa Group) (2021)
- Supply of Surgical equipment’s consumables to Raja Sir Ramasamy Mudaliar Hospital Royapuram, with the support of United Way, Chennai (2021)
- Supply of Thermal scanners, Hand sanitiser & Liquid soap to 55 schools in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur District supported by eVidyaloka. (2021)
- Food for the Needy - Distribution of food for the hospital visitors and shelter inmates during day time with the support of United Way Chennai. (2021)
- Mitigating the Economic and Mental Health Impacts of COVID-19 – Study in urban slums of Chennai jointly with J-Pal SA & IFMR (2020-21)
- Vizhitheyzhuvom – (Phase I) Psycho socio support and sensitising the community on COVID in 11 Habitations of Ennore covering 7000 families supported by Coromandel International Limited (Murugappa Group) (2020)
- Supply of relief kit to 90 families with any one of the members is partially or fully impaired in vision, Maraimalai nagar (2020)
- Promoted intensive campaigns for Hand-washing in the Fisherman habitations at the eve of Global Hand-washing Day with the support of Coromandel International Limited. The programme sensitized 1800 women and 600 Children through various activities. (2020)
- Conducted “Women Wellness Exhibitions” in 11 places with the support of Coromandel International Limited and 1713 women benefitted by visiting the exhibition and attending the orientations. (2021)
- Supply of dry rations and Vegetables to 636 Households of Mannur Village, Kanchipuram District with the support of (Hyundai) Glovis India private Limited (2020)
- Supply of dry rations and Vegetables to 60 Women headed Families of Bharathinagar, Thuckalay, Kanyakumari District (2020)
- Food for the Needy - Distribution of food for the hospital visitors and shelter inmates during day time with the support of United Way Chennai. (2020)
- Supply of dry rations to Manolaya, a home for the mentally challenged in Nagerkoil, Kk District (2020)
- Supply of dry rations and Vegetables to 210 Tribal families of Pennagaram block, Dharmapuri District (2020)
- Supply of Thermal scanners, Hand sanitizer & Liquid soap to WASH model Schools, Chennai (2020)
- Stitching of Cloth masks using WASH in School team volunteers and free supply to Police department, Kanyakumari District (2020)
- Food for the Needy - Distribution of food for the hospital visitors and patients visiting the hospital for Chemotherapy during day time with the support of Ball Corporation, Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. (2020)
- Fixing of a Hands-free leg operated hand Wash station in the shelter for the use of the shelter inmates and Hospital visitors supported by Ball Corporation, Sri City. (2020)
